ConExpo 2026: How to Work the Biggest Construction Trade Show Like a Pro
February 28, 2026

ConExpo-Con/Agg is the largest construction trade show in North America, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It brings together the full spectrum of the construction and aggregates industries — from earthmoving and heavy equipment to concrete production, lifting and material handling, asphalt and paving, aggregates processing, construction technology, and sustainability. If it moves dirt, lifts steel, or pours concrete, it's at ConExpo.

The show matters for a few big reasons. Major manufacturers debut new machines and technology here. Outdoor demo lots showcase working heavy equipment in action. There are dozens of technical education sessions and certifications. And from a networking standpoint, it's one of the best places in the world to connect with suppliers, dealers, and decision-makers — all under one roof.

Everyone always asks Harry Fry & Associates, "Do you have a booth?" We've been attending ConExpo since the mid-90s, and we have never done a booth. HFA has always found it more valuable to walk the site — meeting with manufacturers, dealers, and customers face to face. Harry will tell you he used to bring his laptop and close deals sitting on outriggers. That approach hasn't changed. The relationships built on the show floor are what drive this industry, and we'd rather be out in it than behind a table.

Have a Plan Before You Walk the Floor

ConExpo is massive. If there are customers or vendors at the top of your list, reach out before the show and set up a time to meet. Even if it's just a few minutes to say hello, scheduling those touchpoints in advance turns a chaotic week into a productive one. Walking the show without a plan means you'll spend most of your time in transit instead of in conversation.

Get Financing Pre-Approved Before You Negotiate

If you're thinking about purchasing equipment at ConExpo, Harry Fry & Associates is happy to put a finance pre-approval in place before you arrive. Pre-approval does two things: it puts you in a stronger negotiating position with dealers and manufacturers, and it gives you a clear picture of your budget before you start talking numbers. Knowing what you can work with before the handshake changes the entire dynamic.

Ask About Parts and Service Infrastructure

Parts and service are an integral part of owning equipment — and they're easy to overlook when you're standing next to a brand-new machine on the show floor. Before you commit, ask the manufacturer about their parts availability and service network. If your unit needs maintenance or repair, you want to know approximately how long it will take to get your revenue-generating machinery back to work. Downtime is lost income.

Evaluate Support, Not Just Specs

Specs sell machines, but support keeps them running. When comparing equipment, evaluate how easily accessible technical support is — whether that's phone support, field service, dealer proximity, or digital tools. A machine with slightly lower specs but outstanding support infrastructure can outperform a higher-spec unit that leaves you waiting on hold when something goes wrong.

Make Real Connections — Not Just Badge Scans

ConExpo is one of the most widely attended trade shows in construction. That means it's a rare opportunity to see a huge number of customers, vendors, and partners in a very short window. Don't just scan badges and collect brochures. Take the time to have real conversations. The deals and relationships that come out of ConExpo often shape the year ahead — sometimes longer.

The Bottom Line

Whether you're walking the floor as a buyer, a dealer, or a service provider, ConExpo rewards those who come prepared. Have your financing lined up, your meetings scheduled, and your questions ready. And if you see someone closing a deal on a set of outriggers — that might just be us.
